Alps Welding manufactures custom tanks, pressure vessels, piping and structural components for municipal and industrial water treatment applications. As a Canadian water treatment equipment manufacturer, we work with equipment designers, EPCs and end users to fabricate equipment around their drawings, material specifications and project requirements.
From individual treatment vessels to larger equipment assemblies, our team combines custom fabrication with mechanical engineering support at our facility in Woodbridge, Ontario.
Custom Equipment for Water Treatment Applications
Water Treatment Tank Fabrication
As a water treatment tank fabricator, Alps Welding builds custom tanks with dimensions, connections, access openings and supports specified for each application. Our capabilities include carbon steel and stainless steel fabrication for equipment with different service and installation requirements.
Early review of tank geometry, nozzle locations and handling requirements helps establish a practical fabrication scope. Explore our custom tank fabrication capabilities for more information.
Water Treatment Pressure Vessels
A water treatment pressure vessel needs a defined basis for fabrication, including design pressure and temperature, material specifications, internal components and required examination and testing. We manufacture custom vessels to the agreed project requirements, with mechanical design support available for the equipment we fabricate.
Our published water treatment pressure vessel project for power generation provides one example: a carbon steel vessel incorporating stainless steel internal components.
Water Treatment Deaerator Fabrication
A water treatment deaerator used in a boiler feedwater system removes dissolved gases that contribute to corrosion. This is a specific treatment duty within industrial steam and power systems.
Alps Welding fabricates equipment for deaerator designers to their specifications. In our published deaerator fabrication project, we manufactured a heater vessel and storage tank, then trial-fitted the stacked vessels in the shop to check fit and alignment before shipment.
For background on the treatment process, see Spirax Sarco’s guide to pressurised deaerators.
Piping and Skid Assembly for Treatment Equipment
Water treatment equipment often needs to connect with piping, supports and other components within a larger package. Alps Welding provides skid fabrication and assembly to bring these elements together within the agreed scope.
Reviewing nozzle orientation, pipe routing and access to removable components helps coordinate the assembly. Shop assembly also provides an opportunity to check the physical fit before the equipment reaches the installation site.
Mechanical Engineering Support for Custom Equipment
Our mechanical engineering support includes vessel calculations, 3D modelling and fabrication drawings for equipment we manufacture. We can work from an established customer design or provide mechanical design support within the project scope.
Pressure vessel projects are reviewed against the applicable code, registration and customer requirements, including ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and Canadian Registration Number requirements where applicable. Establishing these requirements early helps define the inspection, testing and documentation needed for fabrication.
Capacity for Large Water Treatment Equipment
Our 90,000-square-foot facility supports the fabrication and assembly of large custom equipment. Published handling capabilities include a maximum equipment weight of 150,000 lb and an 18 ft × 18 ft shipping envelope.
For larger water treatment tanks and vessels, equipment dimensions, lifting arrangements and transportation requirements are reviewed alongside the fabrication scope. This helps connect the shop work with the requirements for delivery and installation.
