Alps Welding provides custom aluminum fabrication for industrial equipment, components and assemblies. Based in Woodbridge, Ontario, we work with equipment designers, EPCs and industrial end users to manufacture to project drawings and specifications.
Whether aluminum is specified for most of an assembly or selected supporting components, our team can review your material requirements, dimensions and fabrication scope.
Custom Aluminum Equipment and Assemblies
Custom industrial equipment brings together parts that must fit the overall design. Panel dimensions, bracing, attachment points and connections to other equipment all influence the fabrication requirements.
Fabrication to Project Drawings
We work with your drawings to establish the scope for aluminum components and assemblies. Material grades, component thicknesses and dimensional tolerances provide the starting point for planning the work.
For assemblies that form part of a larger system, identify the mating dimensions and customer-supplied components so these interfaces can be reviewed before fabrication.

A Current Aluminum Fabrication Project
The project shown on this page is currently being fabricated primarily from aluminum. The photographs show a large industrial assembly with panel sections, perimeter framing and diagonal bracing.
It provides a practical example of our aluminum fabrication work, from fitting individual components to welding the assembly. The photographs capture the equipment while fabrication is still in progress.
Why Specify Aluminum for Industrial Equipment
Aluminum offers several properties that can be useful in equipment design:
- Low weight can help meet handling and overall equipment weight requirements.
- Corrosion resistance can be useful in suitable environments, with the alloy selected for the intended service.
- Thermal conductivity can make aluminum relevant to certain heat-transfer applications.
Suitability depends on the specified alloy and temper, operating conditions and structural requirements. The material choice should reflect the application and the requirements of each component.
Aluminum Welding and Assembly
Surface preparation is an important part of aluminum welding. Oil, moisture and the surface oxide layer can affect weld quality, making joint cleaning and material handling important considerations.
Joint fit-up, welding sequence and dimensional checks also need to suit the component geometry and specified tolerances. These details matter when bringing panels, framing and supports together into a custom assembly.
Aluminum Components in Equipment with Other Materials
Aluminum can also be specified for selected components in equipment incorporating several materials.
For an energy recovery heat exchanger project, Alps Welding fabricated an assembly combining stainless steel piping with aluminum structural components. The equipment was manufactured to a customer-supplied design.
