Alps Welding is fabricating a carbon steel water treatment vessel for an anion separation application. Measuring 54 inches OD × 132 inches S/S, the vessel is an example of our custom fabrication work for water treatment equipment.
The shop photographs show the assembly during fabrication, including its cylindrical shell, welded seams, flanged openings and smaller shell cutouts.
Anion Separation Vessel Project Specifications
- Application: Water treatment
- Equipment type: Anion separation vessel
- Material: Carbon steel
- Dimensions: 54 inches OD x 132 inches S/S
- Stage: Fabrication in process
A Closer Look at Vessel Fabrication
Carbon Steel Shell Construction
The photographs show the shell sections joined by circumferential welds. The open-end view also provides a look inside the vessel, showing the shell seams and openings during fabrication.
Our carbon steel fabrication capabilities support custom vessels and process equipment built to the dimensions, materials and fabrication requirements specified for each project.
Flanged Openings and Connection Layout
A large flanged side opening is a prominent feature of this vessel. The photographs also show flanged ends and smaller cutouts in the shell.
For a custom water treatment vessel, the connection arrangement needs to suit the specified piping and internal components. Defining opening sizes, locations and orientations on the fabrication drawings helps establish how the vessel will fit within the wider equipment assembly.
Material Requirements for Water Treatment Vessels
Carbon steel suitability depends on the service conditions and the equipment specification. Process chemistry, temperature and pressure requirements need to be considered alongside any required corrosion allowance, protective coating or internal lining.
For another example of our work, explore our lined carbon steel water treatment vessel project, which combined vessel body fabrication with installation of internal distributors.
